Patient selection: > 65 years of age with functional limitation in Europe

 

Parameters:

(1) height in centimeters

(2) resistance by BIA in Ohms at 50 kHz

(3) sex (female = 1, male = 0)

(4) body weight in kilograms

(5) reactance in Ohms

= ((height)^2) / (resistance)

 

appendicular lean mass in kilograms using GE Lunar =

= (0.168 * (impedance index)) - (1.931 * (points for sex)) + (0.132 * (weight)) + (0.017 * (reactance)) + 1.821

 

appendicular lean mass in kilograms using Hologic =

= (0.196 * (impedance index)) - (2.554 * (points for sex)) + (0.060 * (weight)) + 4.957
