Minimum allowable hematocrit: 33%
Parameters:
(1) estimated blood volume in mL by the equation of Nadler et al
(2) hematocrit preoperative as a percent from 0 to 100
(3) hematocrit at the end of the hospital stay as a percent from 0 to 100
(4) volume of allogeneic transfused blood in mL
(5) volume of blood infused from intraoperative blood salvage
estimated blood loss =
= ((blood volume) * 0.01 * ((hematocrit preop) - (hematocrit at discharge))) + (volume transfused allogeneic blood) + (volume of intraoperative blood salvage)
