Gualdi-Russo used various measurements of the talus and calcaneus bones to determine the gender of physical remains. The author is from the University of Ferrara in Italy.
Population studied: adults from North Italy, from 19 to 70 years of age

(1) length of the left talus in mm
(2) height of the left talus in mm

where:
• The values between the left and right sides in Table 1 are fairly close. Measurements from the right talus could be used if the left is not available.
