Cattermole et al developed an equation for estimating body weight in an adolescent or adult from the mid-arm circumference (MAC). The authors are from Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Kigali (Rwanda), Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the University Hospital of Wales.
Patient selection: adolescent or adult (age >= 11 years)

= (4 * (MAC in cm)) - 46.8585
simplified estimate in kilograms =
= (4 * (MAC)) - 50
Performance:
• The score was inaccurate in patients less than 11 years of age.
• The reliability depends on proper equipment and a reproducible site of measurement.
