Description

Ben Jemaa et al developed an equation for estimating the total body water of a child based on impedance and body measurements. The authors are from the University of Tunis El Manar, National Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology of Tunis, Institute of Public Health in Tunis and CNESTEN-Ibn Tofail University Morocco.

Patient: child 8 to 11 years old

Parameters =

(1) height in cm

(2) resistance in ohms

(3) age in years

(4) weight in kilograms

(5) gender (0 if female, 1 if male)

resistance index =

= (((height)^2)/(resistance))

total body water in liters =

= (0.083 * (((height)^2)/(resistance)) + (0.274 * (age in years)) + (0.637 * (points for gender)) + (0.310 * (weight)) + 2.456
