Description

Penlington reported an equation for determining the internal diameter of an endotracheal tube for a child based on height. This is based on a line-estimate for the data shown in Figure 3 of the paper by Keep and Manford.

= (0.045 * (height)) + 0.8

 

where:

0.045 corresponds to dividing by 22.2
