Description

Luft et al used the Endothelial Activation and Stress Index (EASIX) to evaluate patients with graft-versus-host disease after allogeneic stem-cell transplants. The authors are from University Hospital Heidelberg, German Cancer Research Center, Cincinnati Children's Hospital, University of Washington and Charite University Medicine Berlin.

Parameters:

(1) serum LDH in U/L

(2) serum creatinine in mg/dL

(3) platelet count in 10^9/L

EASIX =

= (serum LDH) * (serum creatinine) / (platelet count)

In patients with reduced-intensity conditioning EASIX is predictive of overall survival.

In patients with myeloablative conditioning EASIX was not predictive due to the reduction in platelet count associated with myeloablation.
