Endometriosis Fertility Index (EFI): Least Function (LF) Score

Patient selection: woman with endometriosis

Sites analyzed:

(1) left fallopian tube

(2) left fimbria

(3) left ovary

(4) right fallopian tube

(5) right fimbria

(6) right ovary

The minimum number of points on each side is determined:

points for left side =

= MIN(left FT, left fimbria, left ovary)

points for right side =

= MIN(right FT, right fimbria, right ovary)

least function score =

= (points for left side) + (points for right side)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 8

There is also the following rule:

If an ovary is absent on one side, then the least function score is obtained by doubling the lowest score on the side with the ovary.

It is uncertain is this rule might fail under certain patterns of involvement.
