Endometriosis can occur within the lungs including the bronchus.
The patient may be asymptomatic or present with:
(1) catamenial hemoptysis
(2) dyspnea
(3) cough
The patient may have a history of endometriosis elsewhere.
The patient may be found to have one or more lung nodules on imaging studies, which need to be differentiated from primary or metastatic tumors.
At endoscopy a polypoid or ulcerated endobronchial mass may be found.
Serum CA-125 may be elevated.
Histology shows benign glands and stroma, with the stroma CD10 positive.
