Elderly-Onset Rheumatoid Arthritis (EORA) may be distinguished from Younger-Onset Rheumatoid Arthritis (YORA).

Features of elderly-onset RA may include:
(1) abrupt onset
(2) resembles polymyalgia rheumatica
(3) less likely to have rheumatoid nodules
(4) may be negative for rheumatoid factor (RF)
(5) increased risk for adverse effects with aggressive drug therapy
(6) multiple comorbidities
The possibility of a paraneoplastic syndrome needs to be considered in an older adult.
