Description

Elastration is a means of castration used in animal husbandry that uses a small rubber band. Genital damage can occur in a human male if a tight rubber band is placed at the base of the genitals.


 

Procedure of elastration:

(1) The animal is usually a young male.

(2) A small rubber band is expanded, placed over the male genitals and then released.

(3) The tight rubber band cuts off the blood supply.

(4) The genitals infarct then fall off.

 

Risk factors in humans:

(1) small child

(2) psychiatric disorder (including autocastration)

(3) sexual play or exploration
