Description

Whigham et al evaluated the impact of clothing on body weight of an adult. In clinical practice many patients are weighed while clothed with the actual body weight inferred. The authors are from USDA ARS Grands Forks Human Nutrition Research Center, University of Wisconsin, University of North Dakota, and Virginia Commonwealth University.


Patient selection: middle-aged adults

 

Patient preparation: removal of outerwear, shoes and socks

 

General pattern:

(1) clothing weight in males is greater than that of females

(2) in general there is little variation during the year
