Edible species include:

(1) Gyllodes sigillatus

(2) Acheta domesticus

 

Crickets may be ingested:

(1) whole

(2) ground up

(3) after processing (flour, other)

 

Processing may include:

(1) pasteurization

(2) protein extraction

 

Possible adverse effects:

(1) exposure to pesticides

(2) allergy

(3) transmission of bacterial pathogens
