Eczema Coxsackium is an atypical presentation of hand-foot-mouth (HFS) disease.
Pathogen involved: Coxsackie A6, possibly other enteroviruses
Clinical features:
(1) hand-foot-mouth disease with lesions (papules, vesicles, erosions) affecting the mouth, palms, soles and buttocks
(2) exanthem involving areas of affected by other skin lesions (atopic dermatitis, intertrigo, ichthyosis, Darier's disease, HIV, sunburn)
A significant percentage of the body surface area may be affected.
Differential diagnosis: eczema herpeticum, secondary bacterial infection
