Description

A number of signs and symptoms can be seen early in an infant with cerebral palsy.


Early signs of cerebral palsy may include:

(1) early handedness < 12 months

(2) stiffness or tightness in the legs (includes being unable to bring toes to mouth during diapering)

(3) persistent fisting of the hands > 4 months

(4) persistent head lag > 4 months

(5) unable to set without support after 9 months

(6) any asymmetry in posture or movements

(7) persistent Moro reflex

(8) toe-walking > 12 months (consistent or asymmetric)

(9) persistent startle reflex > 6 months
