Drummer's tendinitis is an overuse injury caused by repetitive hand and wrist movements.
Synonym: drummer's wrist
Pathology: tenosynovitis of the extensor policis longus and third dorsal wrist compartment
Risk factors:
(1) long period of continuous drum playing
(2) poor technique
Signs and symptoms
(1) dull, aching dorsal wrist pain
(2) tenderness
(3) variable swelling
Ultrasonography should be able to identify swelling of the tendon.
Complications:
(1) tearing of the extensor policis longus tendon
