Some drugs may be associated with venous thromboembolism.
Drugs associated with VTE
(1) corticosteroids
(2) oral contraceptives
(3) thalidomide and lenalidomide
(4) antifibrinolytics (tranexamic acid, epsilon-aminocaproic acid, etc)
(5) heparin (with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia)
(6) drug-induced lupus syndrome (procainamide, other)
Drugs possibly associated with VTE:
(1) antipsychotic drugs
(2) amitriptyline in high doses
(3) alkylating agents
(4) anti-TNF therapy
Drugs indirectly associated with VTE by causing warfarin resistance:
(1) azathioprine
(2) 6-mercaptopurine
Drugs associated with hyperhomocysteinemia:
(1) methotrexate
(2) biguanide
(3) hydrochlorothiazide
(4) fibrates
