Hypogammaglobulinemia may be acquired following drug therapy.
Clinical features:
(1) history of normal levels of gamma globulins
(2) evidence of hypogammaglobulinemia following drug therapy
(3) rebound in gamma globulin levels after implicated drug discontinued
(4) exclusion of other explanations (congenital hypogammaglobulinemia, plasmapheresis, etc).
Drugs associated with hypogammaglobulinemia:
(1) corticosteroids (with prolonged therapy)
(2) rituximab
(3) anticonvulsants
(4) antimalarial drugs
(5) gold salts
(6) sulfasalazine
(7) D-penicillamine
(8) fenclofenac
(9) chemotherapeutic agents
