For intermediate thickness malignant melanomas of the skin (1 – 4 mm in thickness) an adequate surgical margin about the tumor can be determined based on the location and extent of the tumor.
Patient selection: Patients with melanomas measuring from 1 to 4 mm in thickness (intermediate thickness).
Parameters:
(1) location
(2) diameter of the primary tumor in cm
(3) thickness of the tumor in mm (Breslow thickness)
