In New York City mobsters would use butchering facilities that they owned for "after hours" activities. They also owned garbage hauling companies.
Ways to optimize the method:
(1) drain all of the blood from the body prior to dismembering the body so that there is no seepage
(2) wrap the pieces in absorbant material then place in 2 plastic bags (double bag)
(3) make the packages as nondescript as possible
(4) drop the packages off someplace where there is abundant trash
Potential pitfalls:
(1) making the packages too attractive, so that they are stolen or noticed
(2) having the packages too large
(3) being caught with a package
(4) being seen dropping off a package
(5) unexpected delay in trash pickup, such as during a strike
(6) unexpected weather, especially a heat wave
(7) animal activity
(8) disposal of clothing and other artifacts
(9) insufficient cleaning at the preparation site
(10) too many people involved
The more packages that there are then the greater the chances for one being found. However. more packages allow lighter packages that can be made to be more nondescript.
