Description

Bonsdorff et al reported a score for predicting the risk of a pancreatic fistula after distal pancreatectomy called the DISPAIR Fistula Risk Score. The authors are from the University of Helsinki and Karolinska Institutet.

The derivation of the term DISPAIR is uncertain but DISPA may indicate distal pancreatectomy.

Patient selection: distal pancreatectomy

Outcome: clinically relevant postoperative pancreatic fistula (CR-POPF)

Parameters:

(1) pancreatic thickness (PT) at transection site in mm

(2) transection at pancreatic neck

(3) diabetes mellitus

Performance:

• The area under the ROC curve is 0.9 in the derivation and 0.8 in the validation cohorts.
