Description

Patients with acute rhabdomyolysis are at risk of developing acute renal failure. A discriminant function can be used to identify patients at presentation who are at high risk for renal failure.


 

Patient selection: Patients with serum creatinine on admission < 3.0 mg/dL

= (0.7 * (potassium in mmol/L)) + (1.1 * (serum creatinine in mg/dL)) + (0.6 * (serum albumin in g/dL)) - 6.6

 

Interpretation:

• discriminant value >= 0.1
