Wheezing is a finding that can be observed in several conditions.
Differential diagnosis of wheezing:
(1) asthma
(2) chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including the asthma COPD overlap syndrome (ACOS)
(3) congestive heart failure (CHF)
(4) pulmonary embolism (PE)
(5) pneumonia
(6) lung tumor
(7) drug-induced cough
(8) foreign body in the bronchus or trachea
(9) aspiration pneumonitis
(10) allergic rhinitis/sinusitis
(11) gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
(12) vocal cord dysfunction
(13) chronic cough (non-asthmatic and not drug-induced)
