Description

A number of conditions are in the differential diagnosis of testicular torsion in a pediatric male.


 

Presentation:

(1) scrotal swelling and erythema

(2) scrotal pain

 

Common conditions in the differential diagnosis of testicular torsion:

(1) torsion of the appendages of the testis

(2) epididymo-orchitis

(3) trauma

 

Less common conditions:

(1) acute idiopathic scrotal edema (AISE)

(2) hydrocele

(3) scrotal hernia

(4) testicular tumor

(5) Henoch-Schoenlein purpura

(6) thrombosed varicocele

(7) familial Mediterranean fever (FMF)
