A number of conditions may be associated with sleep-related bradycardia.
Patient selection: bradycardia that primarily occurs during sleep.
The presence of bradycardia that occurs only during sleep can be seen with:
(1) REM sleep-related bradycardia (with sinus arrests)
(2) obstructive sleep apnea related bradycardia
Conditions that may occur at other times, but which may first be detected during sleep:
(3) post-ictal response after nocturnal temporal lobe seizure
(4) cold-induced bradycardia (in a cold climate during winter)
