A number of disorders may present with short palpebral fissures. It is essential that the length of the palpebral fissures are accurately measures and that an appropriate reference table is used.
Conditions associated with short palpebral fissures include:
(1) Campomelic dysplasia
(2) DiGeorge sequence
(3) Dubowitz syndrome
(4) Duplication 10q sequence
(5) Duplication 15q sequence
(6) Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS)
(7) FG syndrome
(8) fetal effects of Maternal phenylketonuria (PKU)
(9) Oculodentodigital syndrome
(10) Opitz syndrome(BBBG Syndrome)
(11) Toluene embryopathy
(12) Trisomy 18 syndrome
(13) Velocardiofacial syndrome
(14) Williams syndrome
