Description

Macrocheilia is a swelling of one or both lips. It may be due to a range of conditions.


Differential diagnosis of macrocheilia includes:

(1) cheilitis granulomatosis

(2) cheilitis glandularis

(3) angioedema

(4) plasma cell gingivitis with cheilitis

(5) Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome (MRS)

(6) mycobacterial disease (tuberculosis, leprosy)

(7) deep fungal infection

(8) orofacial herpes

(9) Crohn's disease

(10) sarcoidosis

(11) amyloidosis

(12) arteriovenous malformation/hemangioma

(13) lymphangioma

(14) injection of an aesthetic tissue filler
