Description

The serum zinc concentration may be increased in a number of situations.


Conditions associated with an elevated serum zinc concentration:

(1) zinc intoxication (occupational, environmental, iatrogenic, dietary, self-induced)

(2) PAMI

(3) familial hyperzincemia

 

Wallach also lists:

(1) anemia, which may refer to the anemia of zinc intoxication plus copper deficiency

(2) primary osteosarcoma of bone, but no citations can be found in PubMed

• The reports of familial hyperzincemia are from about 40 years ago.
