The presence of certain conditions can cause glare or dazzling light to cause eye discomfort
Conditions associated with glare discomfort:
(1) altered pupillary response (delay or failure to react to light)
(2) corneal scar
(3) corneal foreign body
(4) folowing refractive surgery
(5) lenticular changes
(6) following cataract surgery with asymmetric placement of the intraocular lens
(7) drugs (acetazolamide, chloroquine, trimethadione, etc)
(8) emotional distress
