Several pathologic processes of bone may feature giant cells. The correct diagnosis requires use of clinical, radiological and pathologic data.
Reactive processes:
(1) brown tumor of hyperparathyroidism
(2) hemophiliac pseudotumor
(3) intraosseous hemorrhage
Benign tumors:
(1) giant cell reparative granuloma
(2) nonossifying fibroma
(3) giant cell tumor of bone (GCT)
(4) aneurysmal bone cyst
(5) chondroblastoma
Malignant tumors:
(1) giant cell rich osteosarcoma
(2) clear cell chondrosarcoma
(3) metastatic carciinoma
(4) undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma
(5) malignant giant cell tumor
