Description

McGonagle et al listed criteria for the diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis.


 

Main criteria:

(1) psoriasis

(2) family history of psoriasis

 

Minor criteria:

(1) clinical inflammatory enthesitis

(2) radiographic evidence of enthesitis (modified from requiring MRI evidence)

(3) distal interphalangeal joint disease

(4) sacroiliitis and/or spinal inflammation

(5) presence of an uncommon arthropathy (SAPHO, spondylodiscitis, arthritis mutilans, onchyo-pachyderma-periostitis, chronic multifocal recurrent osteomyelitis)

(6) dactylitis

(7) monoarthritis or oligoarthritis (2 to 4 swollen joints)

 

The diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis involves both of the following:

(1) at least 1 major criterion

(2) at least 1 minor criterion
