Description

Right ventricular dysfunction is associated with a number of findings.

Features of right ventricular dysfunction:

(1) right ventricular hypokinesis

(2) ratio RV to LV end-diastolic diameter > 1

(3) right ventricular end-diastolic diameter > 30 mm

(4) systolic pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) > 30 mm Hg

(5) tricuspid regurgitant velocity > 2.8 meters per second

(6) mean pulmonary artery pressure > 20 mm Hg

where:

• Features 2 and 3 indicate right ventricular dilatation.

• Features 4, 5 and 6 indicate pulmonary hypertension.
