Description

A patient with acute hepatitis may present with a number of clinical and laboratory findings.


Clinical findings in acute hepatitis:

(1) fever

(3) fatigue

(3) malaise

(4) nausea and vomiting

(5) loss of appetite

(6) abdominal pain

(7) joint pain (arthralgias)

(8) pruritis

(9) jaundice

(10) diarrhea

(11) dark colored urine

(12) change in stool color (light, clay, gray, other)

 

Laboratory findings:

(1) elevated serum total bilirubin

(2) elevated serum transaminases (GGT, AST, ALT)

(3) elevated urine bilirubin
