Dependent personality disorder is classified under Cluster C of DSM.
Clinical features:
(1) need to be taken care of
(2) fear of separation, with dysphoria when alone
(3) need for approval
(4) difficulty in making every-day decisions
(5) difficulty in disagreeing with others
(6) low self-confidence in own abilities
Psychological comorbidities may include:
(1) major depression
(2) bipolar disorder
Exclusions:
(1) complete physical disability
(2) transient traits related to illness or medications
