Description

Alley et al reported cutoffs for handgrip strength associated with clinically relevant weakness in adults. The authors are from multiple institutions in the United States.

Patient selection: age >= 65 years of age

Evaluation: maximum handgrip strength in kilograms determined by a dynamometer

Criterion for clinically relevant weakness: gait speed less than 0.8 meters per second (slowness)

Parameters:

(1) sex

(2) maximum handgrip strength in kg
