Description

Crohn’s Disease (CD) can involve the penis and/or scrotum.


 

Manifestations of Crohn’s disease of the male genitalia:

(1) ulceration along the penile shaft

(2) erythematous swelling of the penis, foreskin and/or scrotum

(3) distal urethritis

(4) urethral to scrotal urinary fistulae

(5) penile or scrotal scarring with deformity

(6) urethral stricture

(7) phimosis

 

The onset of lesions may precede or follow the gastrointestinal tract involvement.

 

A biopsy of a lesion may show granulomatous inflammation.

 

Differential diagnosis:

(1) syphilis or other sexually-transmitted disease (STD)

(2) carcinoma

(3) pyoderma gangrenosum

(4) Behcet’s disease

(5) sarcoidosis

(6) deep fungal infection

(7) tuberculosis
