The Crohn's Disease Endoscopic Index of Severity (CDEIS) is an endoscopic index developed in France for evaluating the severity of Crohn's disease. It can be used to monitor the disease status over time and the response to therapeutic interventions.
Bowel segments potentially examined:
(1) rectum
(2) sigmoid and left colon
(3) transverse colon
(4) right colon
(5) ileum
Parameters scored:
(1) deep ulceration
(2) superficial ulceration
(3) disease involvement in centimeters
(4) ulcerated surface in centimeters
(5) ulcerated stenosis
(6) non-ulcerated stenosis
score for deep ulceration =
= (12 * (number of segments showing deep ulceration)) / (number of segments examined)
score for superficial ulceration =
= (6 * (number of segments showing superficial ulceration)) / (number of segments examined)
score for disease involvement =
= SUM(surface length of disease involvement in centimeters for each segment) / (number of segments examined)
score for ulcerated surface =
= SUM(surface length of ulceration in centimeters for each segment) / (number of segments examined)
