Description

The National Neurofibromatosis Foundation (NNFF) reports criteria for the diagnosis of neurofibromatosis 2.


Definite neurofibromatosis 2 - one of the following:

(1) bilateral vestibular schwannomas

(2) both of the following:

(2a) first-degree relative with NF2

(2b) unilateral vestibular schwannoma before 30 years of age

(3) both of the following:

(3a) first-degree relative with NF2

(3b) >= 2 of the following: meningioma, schwannoma, glioma, juvenile lens opacity (posterior subscapsular cataract or cortical cataract)

 

Probable/presumptive neurofibromatosis 2 - one of the following:

(1) both of the following:

(1a) unilateral vestibular schwannoma before 30 years of age

(1b) >= 2 of the following: meningioma, schwannoma, glioma, juvenile lens opacity (posterior subscapsular cataract or cortical cataract)

(2) both of the following:

(2a) unilateral vestibular schwannoma before 30 years of age

(2b) >= 2 meningiomas

(3) both of the following:

(3a) >= 2 meningiomas

(3b) >= 1 of the following: schwannoma, glioma, juvenile lens opacity (posterior subscapsular cataract or cortical cataract)
