The Korean Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis developed criteria for overt disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).
Parameters:
(1) platelet count per µL
(2) PT or aPTT prolongation in seconds
(3) fibrin related marker (D-dimer)
(4) fibrinogen in mg/dL

PT not prolonged > 3 seconds AND aPTT not prolonged > 5 seconds
PT prolonged > 3 seconds OR aPTT prolonged > 5 seconds

fibrinogen
>= 150 mg/dL
< 150 mg/dL

= SUM(points for all 4 parameters)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 4
• A score >= 3 indicates overt DIC.
