Criteria of the German Testicular Cancer Study Group for Tumor Enucleation with Testicular Preservation in a Patient with Testicular Cancer

 

Patient candidates:

(1) bilateral testicular germ cell tumors or

(2) solitary testis with germ cell tumor

 

Criteria for organ preservation surgery:

(1) organ confined tumor

(2) maximum diameter < 20 mm

(3) multiple biopsies taken of the tumor bed

(4) normal serum LH preoperatively

(5) normal serum testosterone preoperatively

(6) delivery of adjuvant local radiation therapy postoperatively

(7) close followup

(8) high level of patient compliance
