Description

Panaccione et al listed various designations for a patient's response to therapy for luminal Crohn's disease. The authors are from multiple institutions in Canada.


Patient selection: luminal Crohn's disease

 

Types of remission:

(1) radiographic

(2) symptomatic

(3) endoscopic

(4) complete

 

Radiographic remission: absence of detectable disease activity on CT enterography, magnetic resonance enterography or small bowel ultrasound

 

Symptomatic remission - both of the following:

(1) absence of signs and symptoms attributable to Crohn's disease

(2) without need for corticosteroids

 

Endoscopic remission: absence of ulcerations

 

Complete remission - both of the following:

(1) symptomatic remission

(2) one or both of the following:

(2a) radiographic remission

(2b) endoscopic remission

 

In addition, there is a category for symptomatic response, when there is a symptomatic improvement in signs and symptoms without remission.
