Description

Morise et al used criteria to define a woman’s estrogen status relative to risk for coronary artery disease. The authors are from West Virginia University.


 

Parameters:

(1) menopausal status (symptoms of estrogen deficiency)

(2) age

(3) estrogen replacement therapy

(4) hysterectomy with or without bilateral oophorectomy

 

Criteria for estrogen negative:

(1) postmenopausal (symptoms of estrogen deficiency) AND not receiving estrogen replacement therapy

(2) hysterectomy with bilateral oophorectomy AND not receiving estrogen replacement therapy

(3) age >= 50 years AND symptoms of estrogen deficiency AND hysterectomy without bilateral oophorectomy AND not receiving estrogen replacement therapy

 

Criteria for estogen positive:

(1) premenopausal

(2) receiving estrogen replacement therapy

(3) does not meet any of the criteria for being estrogen negative (above)
