Description

Lund et al listed criteria for chronic sinusitis in children and adults.


Parameters:

(1) adult or pediatric

(2) one or both of the following (see table):

(2a) weeks of persistent signs and symptoms consistent with sinusitis

(2b) number of episodes of recurrent acute sinusitis each year (each lasting >= 10 days)

(3) persistent changes in sinuses on CT 4 weeks after medical therapy without intervening acute infection

Signs and symptoms:

(1) nasal congestion or obstruction

(2) nasal discharge

(3) headache

(4) facial pain or pressure

(5) olfactory disturbance

(6) fever

(7) halitosis

(8) cough (in children)

(9) irritability (in children)
