Kelati et al listed clinical and histologic features which can help in the diagnosis of mycosis fungoides. The authors are from Hospital Hassan II in Morocco.
Features of mycosis fungoides:
(1) long disease duration
(2) pruritis
(3) deterioration in general health
(4) pigmented.and/or erythematous scaly patches
(5) lymphadenopathy
(6) poikiloderma
(7) nodules or tumors
(8) erythroderma
(9) leonine facies
(10) depilation of the body
(11) localization in hidden areas (not sun-exposed)
(12) scalp and/or nail involvement
(13) ichthyosiform state
(14) epidermotropism
(15) ulceration
(16) plaques
Histologic features:
(1) Pautrier microabscesses
(2) superficial lymphoid infiltrate
(3) haloed cells (clear cytoplasm)
(4) lymphoid cells with enlarged, hyperchromatic, cerebriform nuclei
(5) immunostains for CD3 and CD4 positive
