Requirement: aspiration or drainage of purulent material from an hydatid cyst
Criteria for definitive diagnosis of superinfection - one or both of the following:
(1) positive culture or other definitive evidence of a bacterial or fungal pathogen
(2) positive blood cultures
Criteria for a probable diagnosis - one of the following:
(1) clinical evidence of a systemic inflammatory response
(2) radiologic changes in the cyst indicative of infection
