Description

Eron and Passos listed criteria for the therapeutic response in a patient with cellulitis. The authors are from the University of Hawaii.

Criteria for clinical improvement:

(1) no further advancement of the cellulitis (preferably regression)

(2) normalization of the white blood cell count

(3) improvement in feelings of well-being

Cure was defined as the absence of all signs of infection.

where:

• A patient with neutropenia is unlikely to normalize the white blood cell count.

• For a patient with systemic complications, improvement would include reversal of these findings.
