Description

De Luna et al evaluated changes in V1 and V2 associated with an acute lateral myocardial infarction. The authors are from Hospital Santa Creu I Sant Pau-ICCC, Institut Municipal d'Investigacio Medica, Hospital Son Dureta in Barcelona and Palma de MallorcaSpain.

Patient selection: acute lateral myocardial infarction

Parameters:

(1) amplitude of R wave in V1 in mm

(2) amplitude of S wave in V1 in mm

(3) duration of R wave in V1 in milliseconds

ratio for the amplitude of R to S waves in V1 =

= (amplitude of R wave) / (amplitude of S wave)

Features associated with pathologic R waves:

(1) ratio of R to S wave amplitudes in V1 >= 0.5

(2) amplitude of R wave in V1 > 3 mm

"Classic" criteria for pathologic R waves in a lateral AMI:

(1) ratio of R to S wave amplitudes in V1 >= 1

(2) duration of R wave in V1 >= 40 ms (milliseconds)
