Description

Bronson reported criteria for when to treat an infertile male with antisperm antibodies. The author is from the University of New York in Stony Brook, New York.

Criteria for treatment of immunologic infertility in a male:

(1) infertile male

(2) antisperm antibodies in the serum

(3) > 70% of sperm are coated with antibodies

(4) sperm fails to penetrate endocervical mucus

For the implementation I have also added the following:

(5) other causes of infertility have been excluded

Antibody-coated sperm show poor penetration of endocervical mucus and may have difficulty in fertilizing an egg if one is encountered.
