Description

Concealed penis refers to a variety of disorders which can obscure the penis.


The term concealed penis encompasses:

(1) buried penis (excessive prepenile skin and soft tissue, such as adipose tissue in obesity)

(2) penoscrotal web (enclosure of penis by scrotal skin)

(3) trapped penis (enclosure by scar tissue or phimosis after infection, trauma or surgery)

(4) excessive preputial skin

 

Concealed penis may be congenital, acquired or mixed.

 

The penis is typically of normal size.

 

Management is best performed by a urologist who is familiar with handling concealed penis.

(1) The nature of the process needs to be established.

(2) Other congenital or acquired problems need to be excluded.

(3) Circumcision may not be the optimum procedure.
