Description

The Child-Turcotte-Pugh score can be modified by inclusion of serum creatinine as a measure of renal function.

Parameter based on admission data:

(1) Child-Turcotte-Pugh score (from 5 to 15)

(2) serum creatinine in mg/dL

Serum Creatinine

Points

< 1.3 mg/dL

0

1.3 to 1.8 mg/dL

2

> 1.8 mg/dL

4

modified CTP score =

= (CTP score) + (points for serum creatinine)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 5

• maximum score: 19

• The higher the score the worse the prognosis.

Performance:

• The modified score has areas under the ROC curve close to those shown for MELD score for 3 and 6 month survivals.

Subsequently Giannini et al reported a slightly different point assignment for the serum creatinine.

Serum Creatinine

Points

<= 1.1 mg/dL
